Message from Cameron of The Downtown Fiction about the Japan relief effort. Text REDCROSS to 90999.

(Play song and read)

Sometimes, it takes devastating things like this to happen for us to all reflect on what this world could actually be if all of us consciously stood together. The power of positivity and people lending help to each other is what makes this world beautiful. This natural disaster has caused so many hardships for Japan as well as other places, but this post isn’t just about Japan, it is about the continuing effort make this world a better place.  If everyone just kept in mind all of the time that we all come from the same place, despite gender, ethnicity, nationality, location.. our life on this earth holds the same value. We all share that equally and we all need each other.

Please do your part and text ‘90999’ to donate to The Red Cross or simply donate by going to www.redcross.org

as always, the music is free.

You can download this song over at existenchill.bandcamp.com

Please keep Japan in your thoughts and cherish the ones you love.

Enjoy your night on the internetz and in irl -

Japan, please don’t think we’ve abandoned you on here. We’re just working to get more and more musicians/friends to make videos/songs. We’re doing everything we can in our own power to make things the tiniest amount better for you.
I know maybe not everyone reads the papers, So I wanted to update on here for those who log onto tumblr. Here is an update on recent stats (according to The New York Times):
-As many as 2,000 bodies have now washed ashore along the coastline
-Some 350,000 people have reportedly been left homeless and are staying in shelters
-“We have already begun cremations, but we can only handle 18 bodies a day,” Katsuhiko Abe, an official in Soma, told The Associated Press.
-The United States Geological Survey revised the quake to a magnitude of 9.0 on Monday.

1000 reblogs = $10
10000 reblogs = $100 .. and so on
Okay, we know, we know, it’s shameless self promotion. We will be using the increased traffic from our website to fund this donation. We will be sending Red Cross the check for the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami.
UPDATE: We forgot to add what we’d do if someone were to “like” the post. We will combine the reblogs and likes we got from our last post along with the reblogs and likes we get from this post.
We wish we can donate more, but it’s all we can handle. If you would like to donate directly to the cause, please click here.
We will be donating 1 cent per every reblog, 1 cent for every like and 5 cents per every new follower we get. We’ll be sending the check to American Red Cross.
Email us at what@viaSQUARED.com for any questions regarding this.
Hopefully this will get enough notes, but if it gets too many, we’d have to stop it at 50000!
